EA Games will produce three Marvel games, according to Bloomberg. A new report by journalist Lucas Shaw claims that the company has partnered with the House of Ideas to bring its heroes to games.
Of the three projects, the story mentions only one Iron Man game, which was announced in late September and will be developed by Motive Studios, the same company responsible for the Dead Space remake. The text only points out that the game will have a completely new plot, inspired by the hero’s comic books but without adapting any specific arc.
Laura Miele, EA’s chief operating officer, said that the idea is to attract players who don’t usually interact with other EA franchises, such as FIFA. She explains:
“We have an intentional and deliberate strategy to create a balanced portfolio. There are Marvel fans who don’t play other EA titles, which has happened before with Star Wars.”
From the mention, it is expected that the deal with Marvel will be similar to the partnership with Star Wars, which has yielded games like two Star Wars: Battlefront, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and more.
Previously, Square Enix had partnered with Marvel, which resulted in the controversial Marvel’s Avengers and the well-received Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. There is also supposedly a Black Panther game in development, but it has not yet been announced.
It is also worth noting that Marvel has deals with Sony and Insomniac Games, which is responsible for Spider-Man and Wolverine games, and also 2K, which is developing Midnight Suns.
Marvel’s other projects at EA Games have not yet been announced, and more details about Iron Man have not yet been revealed. Keep an eye on NerdBunker for more news about Marvel in games!
