GameStop confirms next PS5 recharge date

GameStop has confirmed the date for the next PlayStation 5 upgrade in September 2022, and PowerUp Rewards Pro members will receive the first batch of benefits as usual. Since the system first launched in November 2020, GameStop has regularly restocked Sony’s PlayStation 5 console, often as part of bundles that include accessories, gift cards and video games. The latest GameStop PS5 restock will be similar, although details on the bundle’s contents are unavailable at the time of writing.

The latest GameStop PS5 bundles will likely mirror what previous bundles offer, but it’s also possible that customers will have different options. PS5 bundle restocking is supposed to be a “store-wide” event, but it’s best to call ahead to confirm that your local GameStop does have PS5 bundles in stock.

The latest September 2022 GameStop PS5 recharge will be available on Saturday, September 24th for PowerUp Rewards Pro members. For the uninitiated, GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards Pro membership is the company’s paid loyalty program. For just $14.99 per year, GameStop customers can sign up for the PowerUp Rewards Pro program and receive various discounts, points for purchases, and more. One of the main benefits of being a PowerUp Rewards Pro member since the launch of the PS5 has been the ability to purchase the PS5 console in front of the public.

If GameStop locations don’t sell out their PS5 console bundles during the last restock event on September 24th, non-PowerUp Rewards Pro members will have the opportunity to get the consoles the following day, Sunday, September 25th. As you can imagine, the supply of PS5 consoles will be extremely limited with this latest boost, so potential GameStop customers should keep that in mind.

Sony recently said it’s ramping up PS5 production for the upcoming holiday season, so hopefully those interested will have easier access to the console, at least compared to 2020 and 2021. However, the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, scalpers, chip shortages and other issues may continue to make it difficult for fans to get their hands on PS5 consoles. Unfortunately, it may be a while before you can get in and out of stores with your PS5 console.

Right now, the easiest way to get a PS5 console without paying scalpers is to sign up for a program like GameStop PowerUp Rewards and try out one of the restocking events. Those who don’t want to shop at GameStop can try other retailers, as the Walmart+ subscription plan also gives subscribers exclusive access to the new PS5 console inventory.
