The announcement that the Karate Kid franchise will get a new movie has given many people ideas. One of the dreamers is Ralph Macchio, an actor who would like to see a prelude to the first film focusing on Mr. Miyiagi’s (Pat Morita) past.
In an interview with ScreenRant, the interpreter of Daniel Larusso in the Cobra Kai films and series revealed that he would like to be involved in the new releases of the saga. While these discussions are ongoing, he shared only what he would like to do in the franchise:
“How come we don’t explore Mr. Miyagi’s background and origin? What happened? What led him to that place, working in that apartment in Reseda? What was his life before that? I think that would be fascinating.”
No details have been revealed regarding the next Karate Kid movie to hit theaters. Produced by Sony, it has no connection to Cobra Kai and opens in June 2024.
