NPD has just provided sales data involving consoles and games in the US and the PlayStation 5 was the best-selling console of October 2022, outperforming competing consoles.
According to Mat Piscatella on Twitter, console dollar sales were down 10% in October when compared to a year ago, to $424 million. Double-digit dollar sales percentage growth for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles was offset by declines on other platforms.

The PlayStation 5 was October’s best-selling console in unit sales and in dollars, while the Xbox Series came in second in both measures.

Eight of the top 20 best-selling premium games of October 2022 were new releases, including Gotham Knights, which ranked 2nd in October, debuting as the 14th best-selling game of 2022 so far.
Spending on accessories in October was down 8% compared to a year ago, to $148 million. The PlayStation 5 DualSense Wireless Controller Midnight Black was October’s best-selling accessory in dollar sales.
