Forget worn WASD keys. The real hallmark of a gamer is the endless list of games you want to play. Working through a wish list can get expensive, but with a little patience, it’s easy to find cheap games for any system, be it Xbox, PlayStation, PC, or Nintendo Switch. We’ve found the best gaming deals for every console and game subscription service, and we’ll update this story every month with a new set of discounts.
Special offer for Gear readers: 1-year subscription to WIRED for $5 ($25 off). This includes unlimited access to WIRED.com and our print magazine if you wish. Subscriptions help fund our day-to-day work.
Where can I find game deals?
Retailers typically don’t list an end date for video game deals, which means they can end at any time. Price tracking tools like Camelcamelcamel are helpful for setting price drop alerts, but they don’t always work for purely digital products, nor for every store. our suggestion? Check out the sales sections at major retailers like GameStop, Best Buy, Target, Amazon, and Walmart.
What is a good deal? A good rule of thumb is to target recently released AAA games for $40 or less, and older games that are still popular to target $20 or less. Video game sales are up a lot, so be patient and do your price research before hitting the “add to cart” button.
