Joel and Ellie’s tragic adventure has begun on HBO Max, with the first three episodes of The Last of Us now accessible on the streaming service. Episode 4 was released on Sunday, and Episode 5 will be available on the streaming site next Friday, Feb. 10, rather than the regular Sunday (presumably to avoid competing with that big football game).
The program adapts the iconic PlayStation video game series from developer Naughty Dog, with the first nine episodes concentrating on the franchise’s first installment. A second season has also been ordered.
The show debuted on January 15 and drew 10 million viewers in its first two days, with new episodes airing every week until March 12.

Where can I get The Last of Us outside of the United States?
The program premieres internationally at the same time, thus there are timings for various regions:
Crave begins at 9 p.m. in Canada. Sunday
Sky Atlantic and Now at 2 a.m. in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Monday
Binge and Foxtel begin at 1 p.m. AEDT. Monday
Neon in New Zealand at 3 p.m. Monday
What exactly is The Last of Us?
The games follow gruff smuggler Joel and his cheery teen buddy Ellie as they journey across a wrecked US in a world where an unnervingly plausible fungal brain sickness transforms the majority of the planet’s people into savage cannibals.
The series stars The Mandalorian’s Pedro Pascal as Joel and Game of Thrones’ Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation, Anna Torv from Fringe, and Melanie Lynskey from Yellowjackets all appear.
Are there any trailers?
HBO teased us with a couple scenes from the episode. The most current teaser was released in December, and the studio has been releasing episode previews in advance of each new chapter.
How terrifying is it?
It’s more of a thriller than a horror film, with plenty of dramatic scenes. The infected do not appear frequently (Joel and Ellie confront more human survivors than monsters), but when they do, they are very effective.
Is it necessary for me to have played the games?
No. The show expands on the plots and background components from the original game, which was released in 2013.
Craig Mazin (creator of HBO’s Chernobyl) and Neil Druckmann (creative director of the games series) included a flashback scene to provide newbies a strong footing in the story’s roots.
The Last of Us and its 2020 sequel, on the other hand, are two of the most compelling games ever created. If the show piques your interest, you should absolutely watch it. The first game is accessible on PS3, PS4, and PS5 (a PC version will be released on March 3), while the second is presently only available on PS4.
