Elon Musk has apparently finalized his purchase of Twitter. The billionaire businessman has made a series of tweets in the past 24 hours, including a video entering the company’s headquarters and a letter to advertisers.
In the publication in which Musk shows his visit to Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco, he uses the expression “sink in” as a pun that we can translate to “absorb this [the information]”. He is even carrying a sink to back up the joke.
On Thursday morning (27), he published a long text aimed at advertisers in order to “share his motivation” for buying the social network.
“The reason I bought Twitter is because it is important for future civilization to have a common ‘digital square’ where a wide range of beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way without resorting to violence. I didn’t do it to make more money. I did it to help humanity, which I love.”
Tesla’s CEO also clarifies that the platform “cannot become a place where anything can be said without consequence.” He believes that the platform should be inviting to everyone and that the user can “choose the experience according to their preferences.”
The part that took many by surprise is the way Musk indicates that he has “already bought Twitter.” He also changed his profile bio to “Chief Twit”.
There had been a long discussion (and some lawsuits) between the entrepreneur and the bluebird company. The deadline to close the purchase deal was tomorrow (October 28) at 6 pm.
Twitter has made no official statement at this time.
