The Last of Us series adapts the 2013 game of the same name, which was given a sequel in 2020 and remake in 2022. The plot follows Joel (Pedro Pascal), a mercenary who finds himself tasked with transporting the girl Ellie (Bella Ramsey) across a post-apocalyptic United States gripped by violence and a massive zombie fungus infection. As the pair begin to grow closer along the way, Joel begins to question his mission – even though Ellie is key to ending the apocalypse.

The series is the brainchild of Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin alongside Neil Druckmann, screenwriter and director of the original games. The project also features a team of directors who have appeared at Academy Awards and at various film festivals around the world.
