Daring escapades in faraway realms, bone-chilling horror in space, and innovative indie adventures are all on the menu for 2023. While it always feels like the previous year’s game release calendar can never be one-upped by the coming one, we’re continually proven wrong. Updated March 17, 2023: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty starts off our march through March 2023 game releases. And we just keep getting more amazing launches as the month trundles on. Bayonetta’s origin story, Leon Kennedy’s remade adventure in Resident Evil 4, and whatever is going on in Rockay City await us in March. Our hopes are up, our spirits are high, and our souls are ready.

This Week’s Highlights
- After much playing and debating, our Eric Switzer has perfectly encapsulated the highs and lows of Destiny 2’s latest expansion in his review. He calls Lightfall “the biggest expectation versus reality letdown since Cyberpunk 2077.”
- Luckily for Eric’s gaming palate, the Resident Evil 4 remake was on his review to-do list as well! He praises the game, saying “It has exceeded my high expectations across the board, and it represents Capcom’s best-ever work on the series. Normally I’d still find time to nitpick some minor annoyance or under baked section, but I just don’t think games get much better than this.” For more of his thoughts on RE4, be sure to read his entire review here.
January 2023 Games
The Dead Space remake comes out in January. Is there any other reason to be excited about this month? Holy moly, Forspoken is set to launch this month too, as is Fire Emblem Engage. 2023 is off to one hell of a strong start based on these three games alone.

We waited years for news on the Resident Evil 4 remake. We only have to wait a measly couple of months into 2023 before we can revisit Leon Kennedy’s infamous trip to Spain. Not only that, but PC players will be able to dive into the visual splendor of The Last of Us Part 1, Bayonetta fans will get a new origin story, and Remnant: From the Ashes will make a Switch appearance.

After several delays, Dead Island 2 is set to release in April. Footage of the game looks pretty good, and so far, this is the shining star release of this month. But given the intriguing trailers for Meet Your Maker, we wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the underdog winner of April 2023!

It’s here. The big one. The one we’ve all been waiting for. May brings with it one of the most highly anticipated games of all time. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was almost unanimously everyone’s game of the year, so it awaits to be seen if Tears of the Kingdom will be 2023’s. We’ve also got Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launching this month, so that’s two big ones for May.
